Sharma began her career as a news anchor with Doordarshan in 1995 and became a familiar face on the national public broadcaster. Over a career that spanned more than two decades, she presented prime-time bulletins and hosted several signature programs on DD News, including shows titled Charcha Mein, Ehsaas and Tejaswini.
