Early life and backgroundNeeru Yadav was born on 7 May 1990 in Chhapra Salimpur, Narnaul, in the Mahendragarh district of Haryana. Raised in a family that later became rooted in Rajasthan, she pursued higher education in science, completing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Science by 2013. She also enrolled in a Bachelor of Education program in 2014. Neeru’s formal studies took her to institutions including S.S. Jain Subodh P.G. College in Jaipur and C. L. College of Education in Narnaul.
Career
After marriage she relocated to Lambi Ahir village in the Buhanu tehsil of Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan. In October 2020 she stood as an independent candidate in the panchayat elections and won the position of sarpanch for Lambi Ahir, becoming the village’s first woman to hold that office.
As sarpanch, Neeru has emphasized grassroots development across several fronts. Her initiatives include organizing financial-awareness programs, supervising local road construction, creating a training center for the village girls’ hockey team, and establishing a utensils bank to provide steel utensils free of charge for community events. She used part of her sarpanch salary to hire a hockey coach when young villagers expressed interest in the sport, a step that contributed to her popular nickname.
In January 2023 she helped launch the Sachhi Saheli Mahila Agro Producer Company Limited, a farmer-producer organisation formed in partnership with NABARD and SIIRD. Serving as chairperson of the FPO, Neeru guided activities that generated approximately Rs 50 lakhs in revenue within a few months. She has also led skill-training efforts for young women that resulted in placements with national and multinational companies.
