Neetu Chandra Srivastava was born on 20 June 1984 in Patna, Bihar, and grew up in Dumraon. She attended Notre Dame Academy in Patna and went on to graduate from Indraprastha College in New Delhi. Raised in a middle-class family, she has said she ceased taking money from her parents after completing her tenth class and pursued her studies on a sports scholarship. Her mother tongue is Bhojpuri and she has spoken publicly about pride in her regional language and culture.

Career

Neetu began her professional life as a model before transitioning to films. Her on-screen debut in Telugu cinema came with Vishnu (2003) and she made her Hindi film debut in Garam Masala (2005) in a role that helped raise her profile. Over the years she has worked across multiple languages, with credits in Hindi films such as Traffic Signal (2007), Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008), Rann (2010), Apartment (2010) and Kucch Luv Jaisaa (2011). In Telugu cinema she has appeared in titles including Godavari (2006), Satyameva Jayate (2009) and Manam (2014).
