Neha Mahajan was born on 18 August 1990 in Talegaon Dabhade, Pune, Maharashtra. She grew up in a family with strong ties to music and the arts: her father, Pandit Vidur Mahajan, is a noted sitar player and her mother, Aparna Mahajan, is an author. From a young age Neha trained on the sitar under her father’s guidance and performed alongside him, an experience that contributed to her artistic development.

Education played a role in shaping her path toward performance. She attended Talegaon Balvikas School in Pune and later won a scholarship to study at Trimble Tech High School in Texas, where she pursued theatre and acting. Neha went on to complete a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Pune.

Neha Mahajan made her screen debut in 2007 in the Hindi short film Bewaqt Barish, directed by Sumitra Bhave and Sunil Sukthankar who discovered her while she was still a student.
