Nidhi Subbaiah was born on 16 February 1985 in Kodagu, Karnataka, and was raised in the Gokulam neighborhood of Mysore. She attended St. Joseph’s Central School in Mysore and later enrolled in a civil engineering program at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore, which she left during her second year. As a child and teenager she was active in sports, particularly sailing, where she won multiple gold medals at regional events. She also served as a Naval NCC cadet and was awarded best cadet in 2004.

Career

After leaving college, Nidhi moved into modelling. One of her early high-profile advertisements was for a widely known fairness cream, which brought her broader recognition. She made her film debut in the Kannada movie Abhimaani (2009) playing the role of Aparna. She followed that with roles in Kannada films that include Pancharangi (2010), Veera Bahu (2011), Krishnan Marriage Story (2011) and Ayushman Bhava (2019).

Nidhi has also worked in other regional industries and in Hindi cinema. Her Telugu debut came with Sweet Heart (2009) and she has appeared in Bollywood films such as Oh My God (2012), Ajab Gazabb Love (2012), Direct Ishq (2016) and Love Shagun (2016). In 2021 she entered the Bigg Boss Kannada 8 house as a contestant, adding reality television to her body of work.
