Early life and background
Nishad Kumar was born on 3 October 1999 in Village Badaun, Amb, Himachal Pradesh. He grew up in a family where his father worked as a daily wage labourer and his mother is a homemaker. Nishad has a sister named Rama Kumari. He attended Lovely Professional University, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts.

When he was eight years old, Nishad suffered a life-changing accident that resulted in the loss of his right hand while helping his mother. After recovering, he moved into athletics and began training locally under coach Ramesh at Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Katohar Khurd, and later worked with coach Satyanarayana as he progressed toward major international competitions.
