Pankaj Singh Biography

Pankaj Singh is an Indian television actor and theatre artist known for his breakout role as Sub Inspector Mayank Desai in the serial Hum Ne Li Hai Shapath

Early life and background
Pankaj B. Singh was born on 10 April in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and grew up in a middle-class family in Varanasi. He attended Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey Uttar Pradesh Sainik School in Lucknow. His parents are Bipineshwar Singh, a former chief manager at the State Bank of India, and Sadhvi Singh. He has two siblings: a brother, Prateek Singh, who is an entrepreneur, and a sister, Priyanka Singh.

From a young age Pankaj was interested in acting. While at college he joined the college theatre group, and that early stage work set the direction of his career. He later became involved with a theatre group in Delhi and founded his own company, Stage Player Theatre Productions, in 2008. The group has mounted plays in multiple languages, including Hindi, Marathi and English.

Career
Pankaj began his professional acting journey in theatre before moving into television. He made his television debut in 2014 with the crime-action series Hum Ne Li Hai Shapath, where he played Sub Inspector Mayank Desai — a role that brought him wide recognition.

Following that breakthrough, Pankaj appeared in episodic and serial television projects such as Adaalat and Laal Ishq. In 2018 he had a role in the historical-drama Chandrashekhar. In 2021 he played Surendra Yadav in the serial Teri Laadli Main, a character described as the family’s sole earner worried about supporting his relatives with only an ancestral house as an asset.

Also in 2021, Pankaj expanded into digital streaming by appearing in the ZEE5 web series Nail Polish. Earlier in his career he was offered a part in the Bollywood film Kick (2014) but could not take it because of commitments to Hum Ne Li Hai Shapath.

Pankaj continues to work across stage and screen, balancing theatre productions through Stage Player Theatre Productions with television and streaming projects.

Pankaj is known for his theatre credentials as well as his television work. He stands approximately 175 cm (5 ft 9 in) tall, with brown eyes and black hair. He lists actors such as Farhan Akhtar and Govinda among his favorites and enjoys reading in his leisure time. He is fond of dogs and owns a pet named Bubbles.

Personal life
Pankaj is married to television actress Prinal Oberoi; the couple wed on 24 February 2014. His hometown is listed as Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and his birth sign is Aries. The available information notes that he drinks alcohol and smokes.
