Early life and backgroundPark Sung-hoon was born on February 18, 1985, in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. He attended Gwacheon Foreign Language High School and later studied acting and film at the Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts. During his third year of high school his interest shifted toward acting, and while at college he took part in a theatrical production every semester.
He grew up in a family where many relatives pursued professional careers in law and medicine. Although described as a different path within that context, his father supported his decision to pursue acting. Park has two older sisters.
Career
Park began his screen career with a small film role in 2008, appearing as a royal guard in A Frozen Flower. He followed that with early television work and theatre roles, making his TV debut in 2011 and taking part in stage productions from the early 2010s onward.
Theatre has remained an important part of his background.
