Early life and background

Parvesh Bhainswal was born on 12 April 1997 in Bhainswal village in the Sonipat district of Haryana. Raised in a family where older brothers played kabaddi, he took up the sport as a child and began competing in school-level events. His early exposure to the game came through informal play and local tournaments, and by the time he reached the Under-14 school competitions he and a cousin were pursuing kabaddi more seriously.

While still a student, Parvesh’s performances at university-level nationals caught the attention of coach Jaivir Sharma. That recognition led him to join the Sports Authority of India (SAI) training centre in Gandhinagar and provided a pathway into higher-level domestic and national competitions. He later completed a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Career

Parvesh established himself as a specialist defender, typically operating at the left cover position. He made his Pro Kabaddi League debut with the Jaipur Pink Panthers in Season 4 (2016) after his showings for the national side and in domestic tournaments raised his profile.

In the 2017 PKL auction he was acquired by the Gujarat Fortune Giants for Rs 25 lakhs and delivered 48 tackle points across 24 matches, including four Super Tackles. The Giants retained him for Season 6, buying him for Rs 35 lakhs; that season he recorded a personal best of 86 tackle points in 25 matches, again registering four Super Tackles.

Parvesh has represented institutional teams in India as well, featuring for Income Tax and Railway teams domestically. Following strong national-level displays he was selected by Indian Railways for a staff post. In 2020 he helped the Indian Railways side win gold at the 67th Senior National Kabaddi Championship. Two years later he contributed to a gold medal-winning campaign at the 69th Men’s Senior National Kabaddi Championships.

In the 2022 PKL season he signed with the Telugu Titans for Rs 62 lakhs and played as the team’s left cover, notching six High 5s in 21 games. The Titans retained him in the August 2023 auction ahead of PKL Season 10.

Parvesh has been a regular in India’s national squads in recent years. He won a gold medal with India at the 13th South Asian Games in Kathmandu in 2019. In June 2023 he was part of the Indian side that captured gold at the 11th Asian Kabaddi Championship in Busan, South Korea. Later that year he featured in India’s team that won the gold medal at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, where India defeated Iran 33–29 in the final.
