Early life and background
Pawan Munjal was born in Delhi in 1956 and grew up in a family closely associated with the Indian two-wheeler industry. He attended The Doon School in Uttarakhand and later studied at the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, from which he holds a doctoral degree. His father, Brijmohan Lall Munjal, founded the company that would become Hero MotoCorp.

Career
Pawan Munjal has built his career as a businessman and has been widely identified with Hero MotoCorp, serving as its chairman, managing director and chief executive. Under his leadership the company became the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters early in the 21st century and expanded production and sales beyond India, establishing factories in countries such as Colombia and Bangladesh and entering markets in many other nations.

Beyond the flagship company, Munjal sits on the boards of several group and affiliated companies, including Munjal Acme Packaging Systems Private Limited, Pan Mining Private Limited, Bahadur Chand Investments Private Limited, Hero InvestCorp Private Limited, Hero Future Energies Global Limited and Rockman Industries Limited.
