Poonam Preet Bhatia was born on 25 July in New Delhi. She completed her higher education at Delhi University and holds an MBA in Tourism. Growing up she was not initially focused on acting; a childhood fashion show helped build her confidence and eventually set her on a performance-oriented path.

Career

Poonam moved to Mumbai in 2012 to pursue opportunities in the entertainment industry. During her early months there she worked on advertisements and modelling assignments and spent about six months finding steady work before beginning to appear on television.

Her first film credit came in 2013 with a small role in the Hindi movie Rajjo, where she was cast as the PA to Acharya Deshbhushan.
