Early life and backgroundPradeep Bhandari was born on 30 June 1985 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He grew up in Indore and completed his schooling there, attending Daly College and Cambridge International. He later studied engineering at the Manipal Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Engineering degree in 2012.
Bhandari’s family includes his parents, father Dilip Bhandari, a retired police officer, and mother Rajni Bhandari. He has two sisters, Shubhra Bhandari and Shilpa Bhandari. His upbringing in Indore and family connections to local civic work influenced his early activities outside formal employment.
Career
After finishing his engineering degree, Bhandari’s early professional experience mixed technical roles and entrepreneurial efforts. In 2012 he interned as a digital design engineer at Texas Instruments and later worked for ST-Ericsson as a design engineer, a position he left after nine months. That same year he launched a company called Orange Revolution in Bengaluru.
Bhandari also took part in extracurricular and policy-oriented programs. He won a Model United Nations event and participated in IIM Ahmedabad’s My Parliament Team in 2014. He completed a 12-week course in Economic Reasoning and Public Policy Analysis at the Takshashila Institution.
Transitioning toward public communication and media, Bhandari engaged in social work and teaching. In 2013 he served as Youth Wing Coordinator with the Thalassemia And Child Welfare Group in Indore, an NGO founded by his mother in 1996. Inspired by a national appeal in 2014, he taught at Pink Flower Public School in Indore; one of his students later achieved a top rank in the state.
In 2016 Bhandari founded the digital media platform Jan Ki Baat and became its Chief Executive Officer. He established himself in news media as a television commentator and anchor, appearing on debate programs such as ABP News’s Samvidhan Ki Shapath in 2018. He is credited as the author of the 2019 book Modi Mandate 2019: Dispatches from Ground Zero.
Bhandari’s reporting on high-profile matters brought him wider recognition in 2020, when his coverage of the Sushant Singh Rajput case attracted attention for its distinctive approach. During coverage in Mumbai that year he was involved in an on-scene confrontation with fellow journalists while reporting outside the Narcotics Control Bureau office.
In May 2024 Bhandari announced his resignation from Zee News. He stated he would no longer host shows he had been associated with on the network, including Taal Thok Ke, Aapka Sawal, 24 Ki Sarkar, or present the network’s exit-poll coverage for that election season.
