Early life and background

Prajakta Koli was born on 27 June 1993 in Thane, Mumbai. Raised in the Mumbai metropolitan area, she completed her schooling at Vasant Vihar High School in Thane and earned a Bachelor of Mass Media from V G Vaze College of Arts, Science and Commerce in Mulund. Brought up in a Maharashtrian family, she grew interested in media and performance from a young age, taking part in debates and extracurricular activities and working as an anchor and theatre artist during her teens.

Her early career included a stint in radio. Soon after finishing her degree she interned at Fever 104, later hosting a show called Call Centre. That period was personally and professionally formative: it exposed her to industry contacts and, after meeting people who encouraged her to try digital content, helped set the stage for her move to YouTube.

Koli’s activities extend beyond entertainment. She was selected as an Indian ambassador for YouTube’s Creators for Change initiative and was one of 50 creators chosen worldwide for that program. Her platform has been used for advocacy and public campaigns; she launched the #IPledgeToBeMe campaign on World Mental Health Day in 2016 and supported the #GirlsCount effort for One.Org in 2018.
