Early life and background

Prasanna Bisht was born on 8 August 1999 in Almora, Uttarakhand. Raised in the same town, she completed her schooling there before moving on to higher education. Initially she enrolled to study engineering at Amity University, Noida, but left after three months to follow a different creative path. She then attended the Asian School of Media Studies in Noida, where she completed a Master of Science in Filmmaking. Her family includes her father Gambhir Singh Bisht, who worked as a senior manager at the Kumaon Mandal Development Corporation, and her mother Gayatri Bhist, who is a teacher.

Career

After finishing her filmmaking studies, Bisht relocated to Mumbai to pursue acting. While still a student she was involved in creating and co-directing a number of short-format projects and music videos, including No Pain (2020), Dooba (2022) and Na Heer Na Ranjha (2023). Those early projects helped build her behind-the-camera experience as she prepared to step in front of it.

Bisht’s first appearance on an OTT platform came in the web series Candy, in which she played the role of Ritika Sahay. She made her feature film debut in 2023 with the Bollywood movie Farrey, portraying Chhavi, a privileged student entangled in a school cheating ring. The role brought her broader visibility and led to promotional appearances tied to the film’s release.
