Early life and background

Preksha Mehta was born on 5 July 1994 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. She grew up in Indore and completed her schooling at Mount Carmel School and Christian Eminent Higher Secondary School in the city. For higher education she attended Acropolis Institute of Management Studies, where she earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

She trained in performing arts as well: Preksha completed a course at the Madhya Pradesh School of Drama in Bhopal and became active in the local theatre community. In addition to formal drama training, she practised martial arts and held a black belt in Taekwondo. Maintaining physical fitness was important to her and she followed a daily workout routine.

Career

Preksha began her career in the performing arts as a dancer and choreographer in Indore, joining The Nerd’s Dance Institute and Event Company in 2013. In 2016 she became involved with the theatre group Akhyana Nat Shala, where she worked as a theatre artist.

She expanded into screen work with appearances on television and in films. On television she featured in the serial Meri Durga (2017) and appeared on the anthology crime series Crime Patrol (2017). In films she had roles in Sakha (2018) and the 2018 Bollywood release Pad Man.

Alongside stage and screen acting, Preksha worked as a model in music videos, including the Hindi songs “Dare to Love” by Shubham Tiwari and “Aashiq Ch. 2.” Her background in dance, theatre training and screen credits show a multi-disciplinary approach to performance across stage, television, film and music media.
