Premoday Khakha was born in 1972 and is from Ranchi, Jharkhand. He completed his schooling at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Shramik High School in Ghatotand, Jharkhand. For higher education he attended St. Columba’s College, Hazaribagh, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Geography, and later completed a Master of Social Work at Delhi University.

Career

Khakha’s professional life was centered on social work and government service. Early in his career he worked as a Medical Social Service Officer at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) from October 1996 to October 1998. He then joined the Government of Delhi’s Department of Women and Child Development in October 1998 as a Welfare Officer/Probation Officer, a role he held until November 2010.

Across the next decade he occupied a sequence of positions related to juvenile justice and child protection. In February 2011 he served as Superintendent/Head of the Office of the Juvenile Justice Board, Delhi. In August 2011 he was appointed Assistant Director of the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS). He later served as the Child Development Project Officer for the Department of Women and Child Development (North) in Gulabi Bagh from March 2017.

In August 2017 Khakha became Superintendent/Person-in-Charge of the Juvenile Justice Board – I & III and the Observation Home for Boys-II at Sewa Kutir Complex, Kingsway Camp. He was named Assistant Director of Litigation and ICDS in October 2019 and, in March 2022, was appointed an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Government of Delhi.
