Priya Bapat was born on 18 September 1986 in Dadar, Mumbai. Raised in the same neighborhood, she completed her schooling at Balmohan Vidyamandir and went on to study at Sophia Polytechnic College and the University of Mumbai. Priya holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a master’s degree in mass communication. Trained in Hindustani classical music from a young age, she later moved toward lighter styles of singing including bhakti geet and natya sangeet.

Career

Priya began performing as a child artist, appearing in the 2000 Hindi film Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar as young Ramabai Ambedkar. Early television credits include the Marathi series De Dhamal and roles in shows such as Abhalmaya, Adhuri Ek Kahani and Shubham Karoti. Her Marathi film acting debut as an adult came with Me Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy (2009).

Over the years Priya has built a diverse résumé across films, television, web series, theatre and commercials. Notable Marathi film roles include Kaksparsh (2013), Happy Journey (2014), Timepass 2 (2015), Aandhali Koshimbir (2014), Aamhi Doghi (2018) and Vazandar (2016), in which she performed both as an actor and as a singer for the track Golu-polu.
