Priyanshu Kshatriya, also known as Priyanshu Thakur and Babu Ravi Singh Chhetri, was born in 2004 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He grew up in and around settlements by railway tracks and has described a childhood marked by informal work and time spent with friends rather than formal education. He spent parts of his youth in Nagpur, where some of his early life and film opportunities intersected.

Career

Priyanshu’s most prominent screen credit was his role as Babu in the Hindi film Jhund, which released in theatres on 4 March 2022 and later streamed on Zee5. The film was shot in the Gaddigodam area of Nagpur, and members of his own family appeared in small roles on screen. After Jhund, he appeared on regional television, including an episode of the Zee Marathi show Kitchen Kalakar.

He cultivated a modest public profile through social media and short-form content, posting reels and showing interests beyond acting—playing the ukulele and swimming were among his pastimes.

Death

Priyanshu died on 8 October 2025 in Jaripatka, Nagpur, Maharashtra. He was 21 years old at the time of his death. Accounts indicate that the events leading to his death followed an evening of drinking with an acquaintance; early on 8 October 2025 he was discovered seriously injured, bound, and half-clothed and was taken to Mayo Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A person who had been with him that night was subsequently arrested and is reported to have confessed to the killing.
