Early life and background

Pulkit Samrat was born on 29 December 1983 in Delhi, India. He grew up in a family with roots in Delhi’s real estate business and attended Manav Sthali School and Montfort Senior Secondary School. He later enrolled at the Apeejay Institute of Design in New Delhi to study advertising but left the course after receiving a modelling opportunity. After moving to Mumbai he trained in acting with Kishore Namit Kapoor.

Career

Samrat began his career on television. He made an early mark playing Laksh Virani on the popular Star Plus soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, a role that earned him recognition and awards for promising new talent. He also appeared on the reality show Kaho Na Yaar Hai and took part in the musical theatre production Taj Express, staged by choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant.

Pulkit transitioned to films in the early 2010s. His first film credit listed is Bitto Boss (2012). He gained wider notice for portraying Vikas Gulati, popularly known as Hunny, in the 2013 comedy Fukrey.
