Early life and background

Guhan Raju, known professionally as R Guhan and sometimes called Guha or Nandhan, hails from Lalgudi in Tamil Nadu. He completed his school education at Nest Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Lalgudi and pursued higher studies at St. Joseph's College (Autonomous) in Tiruchirappalli. From an early age he showed a strong interest in sports.

Career

Guhan trained in kabaddi at the Navi Mumbai Sports Association in Vashi after finishing his formal education. He developed through district, inter-college and national-level competitions in Tamil Nadu before moving into the professional ranks.

He made his Pro Kabaddi League debut as a raider in Season 9 (2022). In the 2022 auction he was acquired by the Bengal Warriors for a reported sum of Rs. 8.5 lakh. His listed coach is K. Baskaran, and he plays in the raider position.

Beyond the Pro Kabaddi League, Guhan has continued to compete across state and national events. In 2023 he won the Tamil Nadu Sports University Rolling Trophy Kabaddi championships and took a silver medal at the Chinnappampatti Salem Kabaddi Championship in September of that year.
