Early life and backgroundRadhika Apte was born on 7 September 1985 in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, and grew up in a Marathi family with roots in Pune, Maharashtra. She attended Tilak Nagar High School in Dombivli and later studied at Fergusson College in Pune. Academically inclined toward numbers, she completed a bachelor's degree in economics and mathematics. Her maternal influences included a grandmother who was a mathematician and encouraged her interest in the subject.
Alongside academics, Apte trained in dance, earning a diploma in dance studies and receiving eight years of Kathak training. Her early stage experience began around age 18 in Marathi theatre; her debut play was Nako Re Baba in 2003. Over time she worked with theatre groups including Aasakta Kalamanch in Pune and appeared in numerous Hindi and English plays such as Purnaviram, Tu, Kanyadaan, Matra Ratra, Brain Surgeon and Bombay Black.
