Ragini Chandran was born on 21 July 1990 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Raised in a middle-class family, she grew up in the city that remains her hometown. From a very young age she trained in dance, starting lessons at four. Her dance education includes classical Kathak as well as modern styles such as Zumba. She completed a college degree and pursued modelling opportunities while at university.

Career

Ragini began her public career as a model and performer in television commercials. During her early work she did print assignments for regional brands and appeared in TV ads for products including Krishna Tulasi Soap, Bru Instant Coffee, Thangam Jewellery and Abiraame Jewellers. Those assignments preceded her entry into films.

She made her on-screen debut in a short film titled Rishibhapriya in 2017. Ragini’s Kannada film debut followed with a role in Law (2020). She has also had a guest appearance in the film Inspector Vikram. In 2020 she was cast alongside her husband, Prajwal Devaraj, in the film Vijayadashami.

Alongside acting, Ragini has continued to build her dance profile. She founded a dance academy in Bengaluru called Urhythmix Dance Studio, where she has trained and worked with students and staged performances. Her background as a dancer has informed much of her creative work and public activity.
