Rahul Mody was born on 7 October 1990 in Mumbai and grew up in the same city. He completed a diploma in engineering before developing an interest in filmmaking. As a youngster he spent time near film sets in Film City and later enrolled in a course at Whistling Woods International Institute for Films, Media, Animation and Media Arts in Mumbai, though he did not complete the program. He attended Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan School in Mumbai.

His father, Amod Mody, runs a metal fabrication business. He has a sister, Sonika Mody, who is professionally associated with the film and advertising world as an executive producer at Far Commercials.

Career

Mody moved into the film industry after an early internship opportunity connected to the 2011 film Pyaar Ka Punchnama. He began working in assistant and associate director roles and later expanded into writing and creative direction.

His debut as an associate director on a feature film was Akaash Vani (2013). He contributed to Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015) in multiple capacities, including as an assistant or associate director and as a creative director. He later worked in creative and writing roles on commercially oriented Hindi films such as Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018) and De De Pyaar De (2019).
