Early life and background

Rahul Vohra was born on 24 October 1984 and grew up in Birmingham, England. Of Indian origin, he showed an early interest in computers and programming, teaching himself to code as a child because he wanted to make video games. He studied Computer Science at the University of Cambridge, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree (Hons.) in 2005. Vohra later began doctoral studies in computer science but did not complete the PhD.

Career

After university Vohra worked as a professional game developer at Jagex before shifting his focus to startup work. He spent his Cambridge years experimenting with programming and entrepreneurial ideas, and in the years after graduation pursued several early ventures across gaming and creator-oriented projects.

In 2009 Vohra co-founded Rapportive, an email-related startup. Rapportive joined Y Combinator’s Summer 2010 program and grew rapidly. While preparing to sell Rapportive, Vohra experienced a severe health crisis brought on by the pressures of running a startup, an episode that ultimately required hospital treatment.

Rapportive was acquired by LinkedIn in February 2012 in a deal reported at about $15 million. Vohra remained at LinkedIn for roughly two years, working as a product manager. After leaving LinkedIn he became active as an angel investor, backing a number of early-stage companies.

In 2014 Vohra co-founded Superhuman with Conrad Irwin and Vivek Sodera. Superhuman set out to deliver a faster, more efficient email experience for professionals and later added support for Microsoft Outlook. The company continued to evolve its product with AI-powered capabilities to assist users with drafting replies and managing inboxes.

Vohra partnered with investor Todd Goldberg as an angel investor and in 2020 formalized that collaboration into Todd & Rahul’s Angel Fund to back early-stage technology startups. The partnership expanded in 2021 when the fund raised a second vehicle reported at $24 million. That same year Superhuman closed a $75 million Series C round.

In July 2025 Superhuman was acquired by Grammarly in a deal reported at about $825 million. Following the acquisition Grammarly adopted the Superhuman corporate brand in October 2025, and the original email product was rebranded as Superhuman Mail. As of October 2026 Vohra remains active with Todd & Rahul Capital, continuing to invest in early-stage companies and maintaining an ongoing profile as an investor in startups that have included Mercury, Supabase, Zip, Placer, and ClassDojo.
