Rajeev Shukla was born on 13 September 1959 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his higher education in Kanpur, earning an LL.B from VSSD (Vikramajit Singh Sanatan Dharma) College of Law and an M.A. from Christ Church College. He also attended P.P.N. College in Kanpur.

Career

Shukla began his professional life in journalism. He worked as a reporter for several Uttar Pradesh publications and later held editorial responsibilities, including work with The Observer Media Group and The Sunday Observer. For many years he wrote prominent columns such as Front Foot and Power Play in the Indian Express and hosted television interview and current affairs programs, including the show Ru Ba Ru and the DD National program Nishan.

In 2000 he moved from journalism into electoral politics.
