Rajendra Singh Gudha Biography

Rajendra Singh Gudha is a Rajasthan-based politician who has represented the Udaipurwati assembly constituency. He has moved between the Bahujan SamajParty

Early life and background
Rajendra Singh Gudha was born on 19 July 1968 in the village of Gudha in Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan. He completed his schooling at the Government Senior Secondary School in Gudha and is reported to have finished education up to the 12th grade. Gudha is Hindu by faith and is identified with his native hometown in public profiles.

Career
Gudha’s political career has been marked by multiple party affiliations and several terms as a legislator. He was first elected to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in 2008 from the Udaipurwati constituency on a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket. Shortly after that election he left the BSP to join the Indian National Congress and served as a state minister in the Rajasthan government from December 2009 to December 2013.

He returned to the BSP before the 2018 state elections and was re-elected from Udaipurwati on the BSP ticket. In September 2019 Gudha again changed affiliation, rejoining the Congress along with five other MLAs. Under the Congress government he held ministerial responsibilities between November 2021 and July 2023, with portfolios that included Sainik Kalyan (soldiers’ welfare) (in charge), Home Guard and Civil Defence (in charge), and Panchayati Raj and Rural Development (in charge).

On 21 July 2023 Gudha was dismissed from his post as Minister of State for Soldiers’ Welfare by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. The dismissal followed Gudha’s public criticism in the state assembly concerning crimes against women in Rajasthan and comparisons he drew between violence in different parts of the country. His behaviour in the assembly led to suspension by the Speaker for the remainder of that term.

Public profile
Gudha has been a visible and sometimes controversial figure in Rajasthan politics. In 2021 remarks he made while addressing constituents attracted criticism on social media. He has also publicly described instances in which he says he was offered large sums of money to influence votes in Rajya Sabha elections, and in interviews he has recounted rejecting such offers in favour of preserving reputation.

Over the years Gudha has been involved in a number of disputes that have reached the media. In 2016 he filed a complaint after an altercation with relatives that escalated to gunfire. In February 2023 a complaint was lodged alleging threats and abduction of a man; Gudha responded to those allegations by calling the complainant a fraudster and characterising the incident as an action taken to address wrongdoing. He has also asserted that he keeps documentation of misconduct by political opponents and has publicly criticised senior leaders within his party at times.

Personal life
Rajendra Singh Gudha is married to Nisha Kanwar. The couple have two children: a son, Shivam Gudha, and a daughter, Mansa Gudha. His parents are named Madhasingh Shekhawat and Bhanwar Kanwar, and he has two brothers, Shravan Singh and Mahender Singh. His listed height is approximately 180 cm (about 5 feet 11 inches), with black hair and black eyes.

Latest updates
The most prominent recent development in Gudha’s political life came in July 2023 when he was removed from his ministerial post following a dispute in the Rajasthan assembly over his remarks about crimes against women. That episode included his suspension from the assembly for the remainder of its term and public accusations of mistreatment during assembly proceedings. His political history continues to include party switches between the BSP and the Congress and active engagement in state-level debates.
