Rajesh Shringarpure was born on 29 October 1977 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and grew up in a Marathi family. From an early age he combined athletic and adventurous pursuits with dramatic interests: his college years included participation in dramatics, NCC, mountaineering, long-distance cycling and scuba diving. He once aspired to join the Air Force and cleared parts of the selection process for pilot training, though he did not reach the final round. After that episode he encountered a spiritual teacher and turned his focus toward acting.

Career

Shringarpure began his screen career with the 1995 Hindi film Param Vir Chakra, in which he portrayed an army officer. On television he made an early appearance in Sahib Biwi Gulam (2004), and later became widely known for playing Lord Krishna in the series Saarrthi, which ran from 2004 to 2008.

He has worked across languages and formats, taking roles in Hindi, Marathi and English productions. On the Marathi screen he drew attention for his part in Zenda (2009), and his negative turn as Sanjay Somji in Sarkar Raj earned audience notice. His range was further highlighted in the Marathi movie Shambhu Maza Navsacha, for which he was credited in the Limca Book of Records for playing 13 different characters.
