Early life and background

Rakesh Pathak was born in 1965 and hails from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. He attended Government Gorkhi Higher Secondary School in Gwalior before continuing his studies at Maharani Laxmi Bai Government College of Excellence and Govt MJSPG College, Bhind. Pathak completed advanced studies at Maharani Laxmi Bai Government College of Excellence, earning two Master of Arts degrees—one in Military Science and another in History—and later a Doctor of Philosophy.

Career

Pathak built a long career in Hindi journalism. Early on he worked as a news reporter for Sandhya Samachar and served as chief news reporter at Lok Gatha News Agency during 1988. In 1993 he took on an editorial role at Nav Prabhat in Gwalior. After nearly seven years there he moved on to NaiDunia, a Hindi daily produced by Jagran Prakashan Ltd. He later joined Pradesh Today in an editorial capacity. Since 2018 he has been editor-in-chief of Karmaveer, a Hindi magazine.

Beyond reporting and editing, Pathak has been involved in sports and youth work. In 1986 he was appointed vice president of the Madhya Pradesh Badminton Association, and in 1987 he began working with the Mahadaji Scindia Hockey Academy.
