Early life and background

Ram Ramasamy was born Ram Chandar on 20 December 1994 in Salem, Tamil Nadu. He grew up in a family that later made Chennai their hometown. He is the youngest of three brothers and his parents are Subramanian Ramasaamy and Uma Maheshwari. From an early age he enjoyed cricket and played the sport through his youth.

Ram completed his schooling at Golden Gates Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Venketwasapuram and went on to study commerce at Loyola College, Chennai, graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree (2012–2015). His zodiac sign is Sagittarius.

Career

Ram’s entry into modelling came after a setback during college: he auditioned for the college fashion team in 2015 and did not make the cut, an experience that motivated him to pursue modelling seriously. He began working professionally as a model in 2016.

On the runway he has worked with recognised designers including Vivek Karunakaran, Sidney Sladen and Chaitanya Rao. He later joined the talent management agency run by Lovell Prabhu. Alongside catwalk work, Ram has appeared in a number of print and digital advertising campaigns. Brands he has featured for include Max Fashion (notably for festive collections), Golden Opulence by Golden Homes, the workwear label Workaholic and Rosoda. He also appeared in promotional material for The Chennai Silks.

In 2018 Ram took part in the television modelling competition Top Model India (season 1), which was broadcast on Colors Infinity. He also appeared in the 2020 Tamil romantic music video Thara Thara, expanding his on-screen presence beyond fashion assignments.
