Rashmi Gautam was born on 27 April 1978 in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Raised primarily by her mother after the early death of her father, she grew up in a bilingual household with an Odia-speaking mother and a father who hailed from Uttar Pradesh. Rashmi attended Delhi Public School in Visakhapatnam and went on to complete her graduation at Andhra University in the same city.

Career
Rashmi’s screen career started when she was still very young. She appeared as a child artist in the Telugu film Holi (2002) and later moved into modeling and supporting film roles.
