Early life and background

Ravi Gupta grew up in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and completed a degree in Applied Arts and Illustration from Banaras Hindu University. He showed an early interest in performance, participating in school plays and cultural competitions before continuing similar activities during college fests. His family includes his mother, Sushila Gupta, and an elder sister, Poonam Gupta.

Career

After finishing his studies, Gupta moved to Delhi and began working as an illustrator. Early roles included an internship at Drawing Room Media in 2012, followed by positions at White Mice Media and Satyabhawna Production. While employed in illustration and content work, Gupta grew dissatisfied with the repetitive nature of corporate creative jobs and sought a more personal outlet for his creativity. In 2015 he became interested in standup after watching established comedians; encouragement from performers he admired helped push him toward evening gigs at bars and clubs while maintaining day jobs.

Gupta began posting comedy clips to social platforms including YouTube and TikTok. His breakthrough on social media came when an established actor shared one of his clips, raising his visibility and leading to more shows and tours across India. His stage material draws on everyday experiences and regional speech patterns, often using slang from Uttar Pradesh to shape observational humor.
