Early life and backgroundRavinder Pal Singh was born on 4 February 1982 in Calcutta, West Bengal. Although his family is Punjabi, they moved to Burla in Odisha when he was a child and lived there in a Gurudwara complex for many years. His father served as a Gurudwara priest and his mother was a homemaker. He has a younger brother, Manpreet, who later settled in the United States.
Ravinder attended local schools in Odisha, including Sri Satya Sai Kiddies in Burla and Guru Nanak Public School in Sambalpur. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Guru Nanak Engineering College in Bidar and later completed an MBA in Marketing at the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad.
Career
After finishing his engineering degree, Ravinder began his professional life at Infosys, where he worked from November 2003 until July 2010. Following his MBA, he joined Microsoft as a Senior Program Manager and was with the company from May 2012 to February 2013. In 2013 he left the IT sector to pursue writing full time.
Ravinder’s entry into publishing came through a personal tragedy that led him to put his experiences into words. His debut book, I Too Had a Love Story, was first published by Srishti Publishers in 2008 and later republished by Penguin India in 2012. That book launched his career as a bestselling author of romantic fiction.
Over the years he has published several novels, including Can Love Happen Twice (2011), Like It Happened Yesterday (2013), Your Dreams Are Mine Now (2014), and The Belated Bachelor Party (2019). The Belated Bachelor Party draws on a real-life trip he took to Europe with friends. Like It Happened Yesterday earned him a nomination in the Popular Awards category at the Raymond Crossword Book Award in 2014.
Beyond writing novels, Ravinder expanded into entrepreneurship and the literary ecosystem. He founded Black Ink, a publishing firm aimed at supporting debut authors and publishing full-length English novels. He also runs a dating networking site called Let’s Socialise, intended to help people with similar interests connect and meet.
