Anumula Revanth Reddy was born on 8 November 1969 in Kondareddypalli, in the Nagarkurnool area of Telangana. He completed a Bachelor of Arts at A. V. College, Osmania University, Hyderabad in 1992. Raised in an agricultural family, his father Anumula Narsimha Reddy worked as a farmer and his mother Anumula Ramachandramma was a homemaker. He married Geetha (Anumula Geetha Reddy) in 1992; the couple have a daughter, Nymisha Reddy.

During his student years he was active in student politics and joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. He developed interests in travel, reading and photography. He is described as non-vegetarian and is reported to favor football.

Revanth Reddy’s public career spans local and state politics and, later, national office. He first won local office as a Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency member in 2006 as an independent. Reddy won the Kodangal assembly seat in 2009 as a TDP candidate and served as an MLA in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from 2009 until 2014. After state reorganisation, he continued as an MLA in the Telangana Assembly from 2014 to 2018, during which period he served as the TDP’s floor leader in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.

His parliamentary career includes serving as Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha representing Malkajgiri from 2019 to 2023. In 2017 he left the TDP and formally joined the Indian National Congress. He was appointed President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee on 7 July 2021 and led the party in the 2023 Telangana Legislative Assembly election. Following the election, he was elected a Member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly from the Kodangal constituency in December 2023 and became the second Chief Minister of Telangana on 7 December 2023.
