Rinku Singh (WWE) Biography

Rinku Singh Rajput is an Indian athlete who transitioned from an international baseball career to professional wrestling with WWE NXT. Born in Bhadohi, UP,

Early life and background
Rinku Singh Rajput was born on 8 August 1988 in Bhadohi Village, Uttar Pradesh. He grew up in a large family with three sisters and four brothers in modest circumstances. As a youth he trained in athletics and became a junior national medalist in the javelin. Limited resources shaped his early training — he used improvised equipment like bamboo for practice and attended Guru Govind Singh Sports College in Guramba, Lucknow before leaving formal education after the ninth grade.

A turning point came in 2008 when Singh entered the Million Dollar Arm talent search, a competition launched to find strong throwing talent in India. Out of tens of thousands of entrants he emerged as a winner, recording fast throws that earned him a trip to the United States, professional coaching and a cash prize. He and fellow contestant Dinesh Patel trained under pitching coach Tom House and later tried out for multiple Major League Baseball teams.

Baseball career
Singh’s performance in tryouts drew attention from MLB organizations and led to a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. He became the first Indian to sign with an American major league baseball team and made his professional U.S. debut on 4 July 2009 when he pitched an inning for the Pirates’ organization. He recorded his first U.S. win on 13 July 2009 and finished that season with appearances in 11 games.

Over the next several years Singh played professionally in different leagues and teams, including stints with the West Virginia Power, Canberra Cavalry and Adelaide Giants. His baseball career in North America and abroad spanned approximately eight years and included development as a left-handed pitcher who both batted and threw left-handed. He was also portrayed, along with Dinesh Patel, in the Disney film Million Dollar Arm, a dramatization of their discovery and move to the United States.

Transition to professional wrestling
After his baseball years, Singh pursued a new path in professional wrestling. He was selected at a WWE tryout in Dubai and signed with WWE on 13 January 2018. He trained at the WWE Performance Center and made his NXT debut on 31 May 2018. In his initial appearance he presented elements of his cultural background on screen, including traditional dress and the greeting “Namaste.” His in-ring persona has included signature moves named Million-Dollar-Arm and Million-Dollar-Clothesline, and he has been managed on-screen by Robert Strauss (Robbie E).

Public profile
Singh’s story has drawn attention both for its sporting significance and for the inspiring arc from a small village in India to international competition. He has expressed admiration for John Cena and an interest in giving back to children in India; among his stated goals are becoming a WWE Tag Team Champion and opening a free education center for underprivileged kids. Singh has spoken about personal habits that contributed to his development, such as keeping daily notes to reflect and learn from each day’s experiences.
