Early life and backgroundRitu Maheshwari was born on 14 July 1978 in Punjab. She completed an engineering degree in electrical engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, and later pursued an MBA in executive development from Amity University, Punjab. Career
Ritu Maheshwari joined the Indian Administrative Service in the 2003 batch and has served across a range of administrative and infrastructure roles in Uttar Pradesh and at central bodies. Her early assignments included training on the junior scale from 2003 to 2005, followed by appointments as joint magistrate and collector in Lucknow and Allahabad, where she worked on land revenue and district administration.

In 2008 she served as additional commissioner in Meerut.
