Early life and backgroundRohan Gurbaxani was born Rohun Prakash Gurbaxani on 16 November 1996 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Raised in a Sindhi family, he spent part of his upbringing in San Jose, California, and attended schools in Bengaluru including National Public School, Whitefield and Indus International School. He pursued formal training in drama from an early age through local theatre programs and later completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama at the Tisch School of the Arts affiliated with New York University.
Gurbaxani took dance lessons as a child and participated in local competitions. Between 2007 and 2011 he studied acting at the Artistes’ Repertory Theatre at Jagriti Theatre in Whitefield, Bengaluru, where he completed a Level IV certification in speech and drama. While in New York he trained further at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute and performed with the Uproar Theatre Corps.
Career
Gurbaxani’s early industry experience included internships and production roles in India. In 2016 he interned at Excel Entertainment and contributed to the production teams of films such as Fukrey 2 and Rock On 2. He later worked as an assistant at Alipur Films and held production assistant roles on projects including No Fathers in Kashmir. He also worked as a boom operator on the 2019 short film My Mom’s Dead and I’m Stuck in Suburbia.
Transitioning between production work and acting, Gurbaxani began appearing in English-language short and feature films in 2020. His feature film debut was Chick Fight (2020), and he appeared in a series of English-language titles over the following years including Knuckledust (2020), Rogue Hostage (2021) and Confession (2022). He has also served as an executive producer on several films; credits in that capacity include Becky and I Used To Go Here, both released in 2020, and he was listed as executive producer on the song Kazan in May 2020.
Returning to India after the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gurbaxani began actively pursuing acting opportunities in Bollywood. He appeared in the Hindi film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023) and featured in the Netflix film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan (2023), where he played the role of Rocky Bhatia. In August 2023 he made his web series debut in the first episode, “Mirror Mirror on the Wall,” of Made in Heaven Season 2 on Amazon Prime, portraying Aman Batra. Reports also indicated a planned appearance as a professional pianist in Bandish Bandits Season 2.

Outside of work he enjoys gymming, playing the guitar and outdoor adventure activities. He has long been an animal lover, especially of dogs and cats. During his time in New York he did occasional modelling for clothing brands. He is unmarried.
