Ronjini Chakraborty was born on 8 December 1996 in Kolkata, West Bengal. Raised in a middle-class Bengali family, she completed her schooling at La Martiniere Calcutta and went on to study History (Honours) at Lady Brabourne College. During her adolescence she received seven years of training in Indian classical music, and her family encouraged her creative pursuits in singing and dancing even as she gravitated toward acting.

While still a student she began performing with a college theatre group called Theatrecian, appearing in productions that included works by Eugene Ionesco, Jean-Paul Sartre, Harold Pinter and Edward Albee, as well as contemporary theatre pieces. Seeking to deepen her craft, she later attended the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune for an acting course before returning to Kolkata.
