Rukmini Vasanth was born on 10 December 1994 in Bangalore, Karnataka, into a Kannada-speaking family. Raised in a household with strong ties to the armed forces and the arts, she grew up with a father who served in the Indian Army and a mother trained in Bharatanatyam. Her schooling took place in Bangalore at institutions including Army Public School and Air Force School ASTE, followed by Centre for Learning.

Her father, Colonel Vasanth Venugopal, was a decorated army officer who lost his life in 2007 while on duty. In the years that followed, Rukmini’s mother established the Vasantharatna Foundation to support families of martyrs, an effort that reflects the family’s ongoing public service.
