Early life and background
Rupanjit Singh Bal, known professionally as Rupan Bal, is an Indo‑Canadian entertainer who spent his childhood in India before moving to Canada with his family at age 14. He grew up in Brampton, Ontario, and completed his schooling at Turner Fenton Secondary School. Bal later attended the University of Guelph, where he earned a degree in criminology. He is of Sikh background and is identified with the Jatt community.

Career
Bal began his public career making comedy videos on YouTube. While still in college he met fellow comedian JusReign, and the two collaborated on sketches that helped introduce Bal to a wider audience. One recurring character that brought him recognition was an angry Punjabi mother in JusReign’s videos, a role that showcased his talent for comic performance and character work.

Rupan expanded from online comedy into the Punjabi film industry in 2013, marking his film debut with the Punjabi production Haani. Early producing credits include the English film The Last King (listed as 2015) and involvement with Punjabi films such as 22G Tussi Ghaint Ho (2015). His credits span acting, producing and directing, reflecting a multi‑disciplinary approach to entertainment.

In addition to film, Bal has been active behind the camera in music video production. He has directed and featured in Punjabi music videos, including Harf Cheema’s “Record” and Karan Aujla’s “No Need.” In 2017 he directed an educational music video titled “The F Word: Feminism,” demonstrating an interest in projects with social or informational themes.

Favourite influences and figures he has mentioned include comedian Bhagwant Mann and fellow creator JusReign; he has also expressed admiration for model Dannie Riel. Bal has identified golf as a preferred sport.
