Early life and backgroundShanthakumaran Sreesanth was born on 6 February 1983 in Kothamangalam, Kerala. Raised in a family that includes his parents Santhakumaran Nair and Savithri Devi and siblings Dipu Santhan, Nivedita and Divya, Sreesanth grew up in his hometown and developed an early connection to cricket. He is commonly known by the nickname Gopu and holds Indian nationality.
