Early life and backgroundSagarika Ghose was born on 8 November 1964 in New Delhi, India. She grew up in Delhi and pursued higher education at St. Stephen's College, Delhi, where she completed a bachelor’s degree in history. She continued her studies at Oxford, attending Magdalen College for a master’s in modern history and St. Antony’s College for an MPhil.
Career
Ghose began working in journalism in 1991 and has built a long career across print and broadcast media. Early roles included work with The Times of India, Outlook magazine and The Indian Express. She later shifted to television news, serving as deputy editor and a prime-time anchor at CNN-IBN. After leaving CNN-IBN in 2014, she took on a consulting editor role at The Times of India.
As a broadcaster and columnist, Ghose has anchored prominent programs and contributed commentary on national affairs. Her reporting and presence on television have been recognized with awards from Indian media bodies, including the Indian Television Academy Best Anchor Award and other journalism honors.

Ghose comes from a family with public service and professional ties: her father, Bhaskar Ghose, held senior positions in India’s information and broadcasting apparatus, and she counts among her relatives figures from diplomacy and the judiciary.
