Sahil (Shahbad Dairy Murder Case) Biography

Sahil, also named Mohammad Sahil and sometimes reported as Sahil Khan or Sunny, is a Delhi-born fridge and AC repair mechanic who came to public attention

Early life and background

Mohammad Sahil was born in Delhi in 2003 and grew up in a family described in reports as financially strained. He is the son of Mohammad Sarfaraz, who works as a welder; his mother runs a shop in Delhi. Sahil has three sisters, two of whom were studying while one was employed at the time of reporting. He is listed as an Indian national and follows Islam.

Sahil’s physical description in public records lists him at about 167 cm (5'6") in height, with brown eyes and brown hair. He is reported to have a skull tattoo on his chest.

Career

Sahil worked as a fridge and air-conditioner repair mechanic. That occupation is the only profession attributed to him in available reports.

Personal life

Sahil was unmarried and, according to published material, had been in a relationship with a woman named Sakshi Reddy for about two years. Accounts indicate the couple had recently parted ways before a violent incident that resulted in Sakshi’s death. Reports also note Sahil used tobacco and alcohol and that he at times wore a red thread (kalawa), as observed by some sources.

Career and residence details include that Sahil and his family formerly lived in the Shahbad Dairy area of Rohini, Delhi. Authorities and reports state the family relocated in 2021 after repeated disturbances; thereafter they lived in a rented ground-floor home in Jain Colony, Prahladpur, Rohini.

Public profile

Sahil became the subject of intense public and media attention after Sakshi Reddy was killed on 28 May 2023 in the Shahbad Dairy area of Rohini, Delhi. Law-enforcement statements and media reports describe the incident as a severe stabbing attack. A CCTV camera in the vicinity recorded the event, and footage circulated widely. Eyewitnesses were reported to have been present nearby during the attack.

Following the incident, Sakshi’s father filed a complaint at the Shahbad Dairy police station and the police registered a case under the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code for murder. A special police team conducted searches at Sahil’s home and relatives’ houses. Authorities tracked a call involving Sahil’s aunt that helped them locate him, and Sahil was arrested on 29 May 2023 in Aterna village in the Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh.

During subsequent media coverage, Delhi Police officials described the killing as arising from a personal grudge and characterized it as a crime of passion. Sakshi’s parents called for the strongest possible punishment in media statements.

Some political figures and other commentators publicly framed the case in communal terms; those comments were echoed in media coverage. Sahil’s father told media he did not expect such brutality from his son and said Sahil should be treated as an adult.

Latest updates

As reported, the arrest took place on 29 May 2023 after police traced Sahil’s location. The immediate investigative steps included forensic collection, interviews, and examination of CCTV footage. The reports also note that Sahil had been recorded contacting his family after leaving the crime scene and that he visited his aunt’s home following the incident.

Sahil’s public profile remains tied to the criminal case and the details that emerged during the police investigation and media reporting. No information beyond the reported facts of the incident, the family background, and the arrest is contained in the sourced material.
