Early life and background

Sahil Verma was born in Himachal Pradesh and grew up attending Mount Carmel School in Baijnath. He went on to study engineering at the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology in Patiala, earning a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering. During his final year of college he completed a seven-month civil engineering internship at Larsen & Toubro in New Delhi.

Career

Verma moved into filmmaking after college, beginning to work as a freelancer in July 2013. By the following year he had joined TVF (The Viral Fever) where he served as a director, writer and editor. He remained with the company for over six years before leaving in July 2020.

Across that period Verma built a multi-faceted body of work in the Hindi web and digital space. He edited and performed a small role in the 2016 mini series Humorously Yours. In 2017 he appeared in the TVF series Girliyapa and took a role as Chintu in the web series Bisht, Please!, which streamed on TVF Play. That year he was also involved with short-form videos for the YouTube channel The Screen Patti, including If Politicians Were Teacher and 13 Reasons Why People Breakup.

In 2018 Verma edited and directed the mini series TSP Googly and directed an episode of the satirical Rabish Ki Report on The Screen Patti channel, where he also made a brief on-screen appearance. The following year he worked as both actor and editor on the romantic comedy web series ImMature, which was available on MX Player.

Verma’s profile rose substantially through his portrayal of Rakhi in all seasons of the comedy-drama Hostel Daze (2019–2023), a series that premiered on Amazon Prime Video and earned him broad audience recognition. In 2020 he directed and edited the web series Uncommon Sense with Saloni for SonyLIV and also appeared in the show as a gangster.
