Saiprasad Gundewar, known professionally as Sai Gundewar, was born on 22 February 1978 in Nagpur, Maharashtra. His international film work included small roles in Hollywood productions such as Choose Connor (2007) and Gabriel (2007). After returning to India in 2007, he transitioned into Hindi films and television.

On television he became known for participating in reality shows: he was a contestant and finalist on MTV Splitsvilla Season 4 (2010) and later reached the top 10 on Survivor India Season 1 (2012). In 2014 he appeared in the mainstream Bollywood film PK (2014) in a supporting role as a ticket seller, sharing screen space in a project led by Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma.
