Saiyami Kher was born on 29 June 1992 in Mumbai and grew up with strong ties to the film world through her extended family. Her mother is Uttara Mhatre, a former Miss India, and her father is Adwait Kher, who worked as a model. Her grandmother was the veteran actress Usha Kiran, and she is related to actresses Tanvi Azmi and Shabana Azmi.

Although born in Mumbai, Saiyami spent part of her childhood in Nashik where her parents ran restaurants. She has recounted helping out in those family businesses while growing up.
