Sajid Khan was born in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on 21 November. He comes from a family with deep musical roots: his father was Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan, and music figures on both sides of his family include a paternal grandfather, Ustad Abdul Latif Khan, and a maternal grandfather, Ustad Faiyyaz Ahmed Khan, who was a Padma Shri recipient. Sajid began his film music career in the late 1990s. His first credited work as a music director was the song “Teri Jawani” from the 1998 film Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya. He and his brother Wajid became best known as the composing duo Sajid–Wajid, working across film soundtracks, background scores and television themes.

The Sajid–Wajid partnership composed songs and scores for many mainstream Bollywood projects, including frequent collaborations with actor Salman Khan.
