Sakshi Shivanand was born on 15 April 1977 in Mumbai. She grew up in the city that would also become the base for much of her professional life. Her father was named Shivanand and is deceased; her mother, Parveen Shivanand, has worked as a teacher associated with Abroad Study in New York. Sakshi’s family includes a younger brother and a sister, Shilpa Anand (also known as Ohanna Shivanand), who worked as an actress and model.

Career

Sakshi made her film debut in Telugu cinema in 1993, appearing in Anna Vadina. She soon branched out into multiple Indian film industries. Her first Hindi film role came in 1995 in Janam Kundli. Over the following years she took parts in Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada productions, making a special appearance in the 1996 Malayalam film Indra Prastham and appearing in the Tamil film Pudhayal in 1997. She played a lead role in the Kannada film Galate Aliyandru in 2000.
