Early life and background

Saloni Kukreja was born on 24 April 1996 in Mumbai and grew up in the city where she completed her school education. She attended Bai Avabai F. Petit Girls' High School in Pali Hill through 2012 and finished her higher secondary studies at Lilavatibai Podar High School. She went on to graduate in commerce from HR College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai.

Alongside her academic path, Saloni pursued formal culinary training and earned a diploma in Culinary Arts from the Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver in 2020. She belongs to a Sindhi family and maintains close ties with her mother, Rekha Kukreja, and her sister Akansha Kukreja.

Saloni’s professional life spans cooking, pastry work, recipe development and content creation. Early involvement in student organisations and volunteer work preceded her entry into the food industry. While at HR College she served as vice president of operations for the student organisation Enactus and later worked as sponsorship manager for a TEDx event at the college. She also volunteered with non-profit groups in Mumbai in 2014 and 2015.

In 2015 she was involved with a college-started rejuvenation lounge called The Peach Vibe. In 2016 Saloni moved into business development work at Frapp India. By mid-2020 she had relocated to Vancouver, Canada, where she joined Kokomo Foods Inc in the food and beverage sector. She subsequently worked as a cook at Madair Farms for a short period and then as a pastry cook at Flourist, a dry food company, beginning in January 2021.

After approximately seven months at Flourist she returned to Mumbai and took on a role as a food consultant with Le15 Patisserie Pvt Ltd. Alongside kitchen roles, Saloni has built a freelance practice as a content creator and food consultant, developing recipes for restaurant menus and packaged food products.

In March 2023 she launched Indu Ice Cream, a brand focused on handmade ice cream, reflecting a long-standing interest in baking and frozen desserts. She also manages a self-titled YouTube channel where she shares recipes and culinary videos; the channel has attracted a following of subscribers.
