Sam Pepper (YouTuber) Biography

British internet personality Sam Pepper rose to prominence through prank videos and reality TV, later shifting into livestreaming and short-form content. A

Early life and background

Samuel Nicholas Pepper was born on 26 March 1989 in Ashford, Kent, England. Raised in Kent, he attended Pent Valley Technology College and holds British nationality. Described as having light brown hair and eyes, Pepper stands around 5'8" (173 cm). He has said he enjoys travelling and photography, and his background includes mixed Greek and British ancestry.

Career

Pepper first gained wider public attention as a contestant on the 11th season of the British reality show Big Brother. Entering the house as a wildcard on Day 52, his outspoken behaviour divided viewers and he was evicted on Day 73.

Shortly after Big Brother, Pepper launched a YouTube channel on 8 September 2010 and became known for prank videos. He also contributed a voice role to an Element Animation project, The Crack!, in 2011. From late 2013 to mid-2014 he toured internationally with fellow creator Marius "Maz" Listhrop on the WDGAF Tour.

Several of Pepper's prank videos sparked significant controversy. Notable incidents include a 2014 prank that led to widespread condemnation and online protests, and a 2015 stunt titled "Killing Best Friend Prank" that generated major backlash and prompted an online petition. In response to mounting criticism, Pepper made his videos private and removed many social posts in early 2016. He then published a long-form apology video in which he acknowledged staging some pranks and shifted his content away from pranks toward vlogs.

After pausing uploads on his main channel, he launched a new channel, Sam Pepper Live, in 2018 and began livestreaming alongside other streamers, including Ice Poseidon. By 2019 he pivoted to TikTok, posting short-form comedy, challenges, life hacks and stunt videos and was described by some outlets as staging a comeback on that platform.

In 2021 Pepper worked with FaZe Clan on YouTube strategy and pursued brand opportunities, and he was associated with discussions around a cryptocurrency token that led to public scrutiny. He later focused on livestreaming on platforms such as Kick, documenting travel and live adventures with Ice Poseidon across countries including India, Thailand, South Korea and Australia.

Public profile

Pepper's career has featured periods of high visibility and repeated controversies that influenced his public image. Some of his earlier prank content prompted sustained public criticism and prompted changes in his creative direction. He has also faced platform disciplinary actions at various times.

Personal life

Pepper is unmarried. He identifies with Christianity and lists hobbies such as travelling and photography. He has visible tattoos, including a full sleeve on his right arm and a chest tattoo bearing the phrase "C'est La Vie" with floral elements.

Latest updates

In October 2025 a live-streamed incident during Diwali celebrations in New Delhi drew international criticism after a firework Pepper launched struck a child, causing injury. He later accepted responsibility, said he covered medical costs, and reported that some platforms temporarily suspended or banned his accounts. Around the same period he faced bans from certain streaming and crypto platforms he had been associated with.

Other notable episodes in recent years include a 2023 livestream in Queensland, Australia, that led to a police intervention; Pepper and a collaborator were arrested and later released without charges. He has continued to post and respond to controversies on social platforms, at times defending himself and at other times acknowledging mistakes.

Throughout his career Sam Pepper has repeatedly reinvented his public persona, moving between prank videos, vlogging, livestreaming and short-form social content while remaining a polarizing figure in online entertainment.
