Sameer Malla was born on 5 January 1995 in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India. He grew up in Vijayawada and took part in school extracurricular activities from a young age, developing an early interest in performing. He attended St Mark's Catholic College for his schooling.

Career

Malla pursued formal acting training abroad. In 2016 he completed a two-year conservatory programme at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City and that year appeared on stage in a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. He later continued screen-focused studies with a Diploma of Screen (Acting) at the Art of Acting Studio in Los Angeles, California.

He made his film debut in 2018, appearing in the Telugu film Kirrak Party in the role of John. On television he has worked in Telugu mini-series: in 2020 he played Jai in Anaganaga and that same year appeared in Shit Happens alongside Harsha Chemudu and Sanjjanaa Galrani.

Alongside acting, Malla pursues other creative disciplines. He sings and in 2020 began uploading his recordings on a Spotify account under the name Mellowthechef. He is also a dancer and has a variety of artistic hobbies that include painting and beatboxing.
